Dear Deb, Over the last 10 years, my husband has gained over 100 pounds. I'm really bothered by it especially because we can't do many of the things we used to like skiing, hiking and going to the beach. How do I mention this to him without him thinking I'm too concerned about his looks? Do I have the problem, or does he? -Ann |

Dear Ann, You are right to think 100 pounds is a lot of extra weight to carry around. Being that overweight is no longer about vanity, it's about health. Your husband is at higher risk for chronic illnesses such as heart disease and high blood pressure. Definitely have a chat with your husband about your concerns. Even try the sex angle. It's simple: Men who are fit have better sex lives. This is because feeling healthy results in better body image, better breath control, stiffer erections, less stress and more staying power. This might be the ticket to inspire him to get out and get active. Cheers, Deb
